Preparing for installation (Windows)

Preparation: Download the Connection Profile

Each data stream you create in Data Stream Designer needs to belong to a collection. The information contained in a collection can be downloaded as a file, referred to in this documentation as a connection profile. A connection profile contains a device namecollection IDsecret, your server URL, the Java API URL and a key.

In preparation for installing a stream host, otherwise known as a device, you have to download a connection profile if you wish to avoid manually copying the details of a collection from Data Stream Designer to the installer.

To obtain a connection profile, follow the steps below.

  1. Log into Data Stream Designer and open the Collections page from the left-hand menu.
  2. Select the collection you wish to use. If there isn’t a collection available, you can create one by clicking on the New button, choosing a name for the collection and pressing Ok.
  3. Click on Connection Profile.
  4. Choose a name for the device.
  5. Click Ok. The connection profile will automatically begin to download.
Preparation: Download the Installer

Unlike other XMPro applications, the stream host installer is not available on the XMPro Documentation site. This installer can be found by following the steps below.

  1. Log into Data Stream Designer and open the Collections page from the left-hand menu.
  2. Select the collection you wish to use.
  3. Click on Download Host.
  4. Select the correct version of the installer.
  5. Click on the link to the .zip file. The download will automatically begin.
