Preparation: Download the Connection Profile
Each data stream you create in Data Stream Designer needs to belong to a collection. The information contained in a collection can be downloaded as a file, referred to in this documentation as a connection profile. A connection profile contains a device name, collection ID, secret, your server URL, the Java API URL and a key.
In preparation for installing a stream host, otherwise known as a device, you have to download a connection profile if you wish to avoid manually copying the details of a collection from Data Stream Designer to the installer.
To obtain a connection profile, follow the steps below.
- Log into Data Stream Designer and open the Collections page from the left-hand menu.
- Select the collection you wish to use. If there isn’t a collection available, you can create one by clicking on the New button, choosing a name for the collection and pressing Ok.
- Click on Connection Profile.
- Choose a name for the device.
- Click Ok. The connection profile will automatically begin to download.
Preparation: Download the Installer
Unlike other XMPro applications, the stream host installer is not available on the XMPro Documentation site. This installer can be found by following the steps below.

- Select the collection you wish to use.
- Click on Download Host.
- Select the correct version of the installer.
- Click on the link to the .zip file. The download will automatically begin.
