I have just installed IoT and want to use it, but don’t see my agents. Where do I get them from?

How Can We Help?

< Back

XMPro has an entire library of agents that can be used in Data Stream Designer. We also allow our clients to write their own agents. This article aims to provide you with some steps you can follow to get agents, so you can get started.

Step 1: The Toolbox

The first step when looking for agents is to look in the Toolbox, which can be seen as a library, to see which agents we have available. Clicking on any of the agents will navigate you to the help file for the selected agent, which will provide you with instructions on how to configure the agent in Data Stream Designer, release notes for the agent, and any limitations or prerequisites that you may need to be aware of.

Step 2: Requesting agents from the Toolbox

Make a list of all the agents you want from the toolbox and contact your XMPro sales representative. Your XMPro sales representative will be able to provide you with the agents you need. You can also request agents by writing an e-mail to us at [email protected].

Step 3: Getting agents not in the Toolbox

If you need an agent that isn’t available in the Toolbox, we provide an option to write your own agents. This can be done by anyone that has some knowledge of programming and have access to a version of Visual Studio that supports .Net Core 2.1.

To write your own agents, follow the steps outlined in this guide:

After writing your agents, you will have to package them. For instructions on how to package agents, follow the steps outlined in this guide:

After packaging your new agents, you can go ahead to upload them to Data Stream Designer.
