How to enable debugging for Subscription Manager to troubleshoot an issue within Subscription Manager?

To enable the error logging details to Subscription Manager log files, follow the steps in the knowledge base article: How to Encrypt and Decrypt a web.config file to decrypt the “xmpro” section of the Subscription Manager’s web.config file.

The web.config file is located under the Subscription Manager virtual path (For example: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\xm_subscriptionmgr\web.config).

Once decrypted, add the enableLogging attribute to the <server> key under <xmindentity> and set it to “true”.

Best practice is to set this attribute to false in the Production environment and to have the “xmpro” section remain encrypted as it exposes the certificate key value that is required to setup Subscription Manager. Once the issue with Subscription Manager error is resolved, please follow the steps to re-encrypt the “xmpro” section.

The debug file for Subscription Manager is located under the Subscription Manager virtual path (For example: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\xm_subscriptionmgr\log.txt).
