How Do I Reorder Object Groups?

How Can We Help?

< Back

Object Groups appearing on the web form, are ordered dependent by their ID, so the only way to reorder is to delete the groups and recreate them.

You are then forced to go into the task and reassign the objects to the newly created object group.

It would be good to have an index on the groups that determines the order, similar to the properties on the object themselves

Answer

Object Groups are ordered on the form based on their object group name from v5.1.0 onwards.

Before the rendering of the form is complete and the stylesheet applied it is ordered using the name as a string value and then rendered to the end user.

It is also work noting if a custom stylesheet is being used for the activity in question it would need to do the sorting of the Object Groups prior to the transformation happening.

The only deviation from this behavior is when Tab styling (from v5.1.2 onwards) is applied as this utilized the ID of the Object Group versus the name.

This is easily remedied to using the name with a stylesheet update.

Your point on an additional attribute to determine the Object Group sorting at design time is a very valid one versus using the name or ID and will be logged as an enhancement request.
