Connection Profile

Topic Progress:

Each data stream you create in XMPro IoT needs to belong to a collection. A collection profile is a collection of information, contained within a downloadable file, that contains the details of a collection. A collection profile contains a device name, collection ID, secret, your server URL, the Java API URL and a key.

In preparation for installing a stream host, otherwise known as a device, you have to download a connection profile if you wish to avoid manually copying the details of a collection from XMPro IoT to the installer.

To obtain a collection profile, follow the steps below.

  1. Log into XMPro IoT and open the Collections page from the left-hand menu.
  2. Select the collection you wish to use. If there isn’t a collection available, you can create one by clicking on the New button, choosing a name for the collection and pressing Ok.
  3. Click on Connection Profile.
  4. Choose a name for the device.
  5. Click Ok. The connection profile will automatically begin to download.
In the next section, we will look at where to find the installer for the stream host.
