This can be resolved using the following steps:

1. Uninstall the Google Frame for IE 8 using the Administrative Tools-> Add Remove Programs.
2. Restart IE and make sure that Google Frame does not appear in the Add Ins.
3. Open the XMWorkspace and the issue will be resolved.

The reason for the unexpected JavaScript errors is that the Dev Express controls that are used within the XMWorkspace do not support the Google Frame plugin.
