Configure and Use HTTPS/SSL on the XMPro Action Console

< Back

Background

XMPro can be configured to communicate over SSL/TLS. IIS requires some configuration to enable this.

Installing SSL Certificate

To configure HTTPS/SSL bindings on the Default or XMPro Website, you must install a SLL Certificate. You can either buy a certificate which is recommended if allowing external access to the XMPro Workspace, or create a Self-Signed Certificate.

  1. In IIS Manager, highlight the Server name in the top left hand menu.
  2. Select ‘Server Certificates’ and Open Feature.
  3. To Import Certificate, select Import and browse for the certificate and click ‘OK’ to import.
  4. To create a Self-Signed Certificate, select Create Self-Signed Certificate. Specify a name, select ‘Personal’ and click ‘OK’ to create the certificate.
  5. These certificates will now be available to select when enabling HTTPS/SSL.

Enabling HTTPS/SSL

    1. In IIS Manager, navigate to the Default Website or the XMPro Website if not configured in the Default Website.
    2. Select Bindings.
    3. Click ‘Add’.
    4. Select ‘https’ from Type dropdown and select ‘SSL Certificate’ from the dropdown.

  1. If no SSL certificate is available to be selected, then you will need to create a self-signed SSL certificate or you can but one.
  2. Optionally select an IP address and Host name.
  3. Select ‘OK’.

HTTPS/SSL Settings

Once HTTPS/SSL is enabled on your Default or XMPro website, you can optionally configure the XMPro workspace to use HTTPS/SSL.

  1. In IIS Manager, navigate to the Default Website or the XMPro Website if not configured in the Default Website.
  2. Select the XMPro Virtual Directory.
  3. Highlight ‘ SSL’ and Open Feature.
  4. Here you cab specify whether to only allow HTTPS/SSL or to allow both HTTP and HTTPS/SSL traffic.
