IIoT

Industrial internet of things (IIoT) refers to a system that connects and integrates industrial control systems with enterprise systems, business processes and analytics.   Industrial control systems contain sensors and actuators, and are typically large and complicated systems.

Ingest Data

Data can be streamed in real time or ingested in batches. When data is ingested in real time, each data item is imported as it is emitted by the source. When data is ingested in batches, data items are imported in discrete chunks at periodic intervals of time.

IoT

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these objects to connect and exchange data.

Listener

Is a Stream Object that is responsible to ingest data from sensors and third party systems.

ML

Machine Learning

NPV

Net Present Value (NPV) is the difference between the present value of cash inflows and the present value of cash outflows over a period of time.  It is used in capital budgeting to analyze the profitability of a projected investment or project.

Stream

Consists of a combination of Stream Objects allowing real-time data to flow through. It is created to address a particular use case.

Stream Designer

Is a model-driven approach to connect, transform and action real-time “streaming” data in a visual, drag and drop manner.

Stream Host

Is a client application which hosts/executes the Use Cases designed by the user in the IoT Portal.

Stream Object

Is a reusable component that functions as a building block for a stream.  There are different types available: action agents, listeners, transformations, context providers and functions.
